Dr. Stuart G. Shanker, MD FAAP

Dr. Stuart G. Shanker, MD FAAP

Stuart Shanker, M.D., received his medical training at the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1975 and completed his residency at Children's Mercy Hospital in 1978. After completing his education, he joined our team in 1980. In the years since, he has become an active teacher on a local, regional, and national level.

Dr. Shanker's medical interests include general pediatrics with an emphasis on allergies and asthma, neonatal care, and sports medicine. When he's not helping patients, Dr. Shanker spends time with his wife Marcia and their 3 children.

Dr. F. Lance Miller, MD FAAP

Dr. F. Lance Miller, MD FAAP - Retired 8/31/2018

Lance Miller, M.D. graduated from University of Kansas Medical Center in 1974 and went on to complete his pediatric residency at Children's Mercy Hospital in 1978. He has been in pediatric practice in the Johnson County area since 1979 and joined Preferred Pediatrics in 1998.

A passionate caregiver, Dr. Miller even passed his interest in medicine onto his 2 children. His daughter is a nurse and his son is an anesthesiologist. Additionally, his medical interests include general pediatrics, and he is active in the Kansas Medical Center mentoring program. Dr. Miller also devotes his time to provide voluntary medical care for children.

Dr. Amy L Voelker, MD FAAP

Dr. Amy L Voelker, MD FAAP

Amy Voelker, M.D. went to medical school at the University of Missouri - Kansas City and graduated in 1995. She completed her pediatric residency at T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital in Chattanooga, TN, in 1998 and joined Preferred Pediatrics the same year.

An Olathe native, Dr. Voelker spends her free time raising her 2 daughters. Her medical interests are general pediatrics with a focus on adoption medicine and developmental behavior issues. She is a member of the AAP Section on adoption and foster care and an active participant in many international adoption forums.

Dr. Allison Hettinger, MD

Dr. Allison Hettinger, MD

Allison Hettinger, M.D. graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2005. She completed her residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in 2008, and went on to work for Mayo's community pediatric division for 2 years.

Upon relocating to Overland Park with her husband Chris and their 3 kids, Dr. Hettinger joined Preferred Pediatrics. A member of our team since 2011, her medical interests are general pediatrics with special interests in preventative care and special needs patients.

Shawna Patch, M.D.

Shawna Patch, M.D.

Shawna Patch, M.D. received her Medical Degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She complete her General Pediatric residency at Children's Mercy Hospital and Clinics.

Dr. Patch is a native of Lenexa, Kansas. She and her husband, Andrew, have one daughter. Her interests include general pediatrics with an emphasis on neonatal care and adolescent medicine.
